Youth and Children’s Services
LAWS provides comprehensive services to children & youth whose lives have been affected by domestic violence & sexual abuse. Crisis intervention, support & advocacy help break the destructive generational cycle of family violence. All services are provided by free of charge by staff who are trained and educated to work with children who have experienced domestic violence and sexual abuse.
Crisis Intervention and Counseling
LAWS Youth and Children’s Services provides free short-term crisis counseling and case management for children and teenagers who have experienced domestic violence and sexual abuse. We also provide counseling for parents to assist them in dealing with the effects of the violence and abuse their children have experienced. In addition to counseling, crisis intervention, and case management, we also provide advocacy with other agencies, schools, and the courts on behalf of the child victims of violence. For more information regarding counseling services for children, please call 703-771-3973.
Children’s Support Groups: Domestic Violence
LAWS Youth and Children’s Services facilitates Children’s Domestic Violence Support Groups throughout the year. These support groups give children who have experienced domestic violence an opportunity to meet with other children who have also experienced family abuse and learn that they are not alone. Women’s Domestic Violence Support Groups are usually facilitated at the same time, so that moms and their children can get peer support that they need. For more information, please call 703-771-3973.
Children’s Support Groups: Sexual Abuse
LAWS Youth and Children’s Services is a member of the STARS (Sexual Abuse Treatment and Referral Services) team. STARS is a collaboration between LAWS, Loudoun County Mental Health, and Loudoun Child Protective Services. This team facilitates support groups throughout the year for children and teenagers who have experienced sexual abuse. Separate support groups are also facilitated for non-offending parents and caregivers. For more information, please call 703-771-3973.
